Pessin Manor

The origins of Pessin Manor House date back to 1419, when Sigmund von Knoblauch, the progenitor of the von Knoblauch family, had the estate built. The family had already been enfeoffed with the lordship of Pessin in 1416. It is believed that the site of the manor house has an even older settlement history, as it was built on the massive foundations of a partially vaulted cellar, suggesting an earlier castle complex. In 1608, eight knightly seats were registered in Pessin, seven of which belonged to the von Knoblauch family. The descendants of the Knoblauch family remained resident in Pessin until 1932. After the forced auction of the estates in 1932, the von Bake family acquired the manor house but was dispossessed in 1945.
