The origin of the Preten estate is a "fortified house" mentioned as early as 1328, which was owned by the von Sprenge family. Further owners in the 15th century were the Blücher family, in 1493 the von Berkenthien family, in 1706 the von Bülow family, the von der Decken family, and in 1904 the von Carnapp family. The manor house was built in 1871-73 and renovated after 1990.
