Rastorf Manor, a manor house and estate in Schleswig-Holstein, has a history dating back to the 14th century. It is a prominent example of North German aristocratic architecture, combining late Baroque and early Classicist elements within a protected ensemble.

History+

The origins of the Rastorf estate lie in a knight's seat with a moated castle. Since the 14th century, the property has been owned by the Rantzau family. In the 16th century, an estate with an initial manor house was established, but it fell victim to a fire in 1720. Between 1723 and 1729, a new, enclosed courtyard complex was built in the late Baroque style under the direction of master builder Rudolph Matthias Dallin. The patron was Christian Emil, Imperial Count of Rantzau.
