Rathstock Manor

The street village of Rathstock had two knightly estates. In 1608, the von Burgsdorff family owned both estates in the village. The family was demonstrably the lords of the manor in Rathstock from 1450 to 1808. Adolph Schmelzer, Royal Bailiff from the neighboring village of Sachsendorf, bought the Rathstock knightly estate in 1878 and owned it until the land reform in the Soviet Occupation Zone. In 1908, Georg Hartmann (1865–1946) bought a part of the noble estate from the Sametzki family and lived here until the end of 1939.

Of the northern estate area, only the estate park remains today. The southern estate area, which was more significant from an agricultural perspective, is still traceable in its original form in today's settlement pattern. The manor house has been rebuilt and is currently undergoing reconstruction. It now houses a restaurant and the community rooms. Also preserved are a granary building, the blacksmith's shop, the ice cellar, and the horse pond. In the area of the manor farm, a new farmer's house and the school, today's community center, were built in the park area. The former manor house is still a dominant building today and forms the architectural conclusion of the centrally located manor farm, which today, as a redesigned village square, shapes the townscape.
