Repten Manor

The village of Repten was first mentioned in 1377 under the name Reppen. The village developed as an estate hamlet with a cul-de-sac layout, associated with the Repten estate. North of the settlement was a Slavic ring fort. The region had a Sorbian influence. In 1818, various facilities such as a vintner's house, a brickworks, a sheep farm, and a watermill were documented. The current manor house was built in the mid-18th century and is now designated as a monument of the city of Vetschau. The estate complex included, in addition to the manor house, an employee residence, a farmyard with stables and a distillery, and an estate park. The steam engine from the former distillery is now on display at the District Museum in Finsterwalde.
