Rixdorf Manor

The village is bisected by a cobblestone street. On one side are the Alte Meierei (Old Dairy), a larger residential building where several families and individuals live, and a single-family house. On the other side are the Vorstadt (Suburb), a street with several houses, the Gutshof (manor farm) with the Gutshaus (manor house), the 99-meter-long, thatched gatehouse and many old barns and stables, the Schloss (castle), a more modern building that was used as a hostel for people with disabilities, the Alte Schmiede (Old Forge), a street with two residential houses, and the Försterweg (Forester's Path) with the Forsthaus (forester's house). A horse stable and a barn burned down to their foundations on the morning of June 21, 2013.

Above the gate entrance is the coat of arms of the Counts of Baudissin, who were temporary owners of the estate. The coat of arms shows three spirally arranged horns.

In total, Rixdorf has between 50 and 60 inhabitants, about half of whom are children and young people.

The nearest town, Plön, is about 6 km away and can be reached by bus. That is where the nearest shopping facilities are. The municipality of Lebrade no longer has its own school, which is why children from Kossau, Lebrade, Rixdorf, and Rathjensdorf have to travel to the Plön schools by bus or bicycle every day.

Rixdorf had its own volunteer fire department, but it was closed in 2006. Rixdorf now receives fire protection from the Lebrade fire department.

A special cultural highlight in Rixdorf was the May celebration on May 1st of each year. Numerous folk musicians from the folk scene in Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, and the Netherlands gathered from the morning hours, some with historical (drone) and other folk instruments, to create a musical and traditional program for the May celebration after the Maypole was erected. Numerous spectators followed the performances every year.

This event was originally organized by the volunteer fire department. After its closure, the association "Dorfgemeinschaft Rixdorf" (Rixdorf Village Community) was founded to continue celebrating May 1st. The last May celebration took place in 2014 and is to be replaced by concert evenings. These concerts are also organized by the "Dorfgemeinschaft Rixdorf" association.
