Rumpshagen Manor

The former manor house in Rumpshagen, today a district of the municipality of Ankershagen in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is a two-story, baroque and plastered brick building from the first half of the 18th century. The broken glass pressed into the plaster of the exterior facades appears unusual. The manor complex with the manor house, two residential and commercial buildings, and one commercial building is a listed monument.

The building, erected in 1730–32, is structured by colossal pilasters and covered with a mansard roof. Both on the courtyard and garden sides there are three-axis central risalits, which are topped with triangular gables. The gables contain the coat of arms of the von Voß family on the park side and the coat of arms of the von Gundlach family on the courtyard side. The broken glass contained in the plaster came from the three forest glassworks of the Gundlachs. The garden hall is equipped with a Rococo stucco ceiling. Extensive renovation measures took place after the year 2000.

The builder was Friedrich Ernst von Voß (1700–1738). From the mid-18th century until the end of the Second World War in 1945, the manor house was owned by the von Gundlach family. After the war, it was used for residential purposes and by the municipal administration. Today it is again in private ownership.
