Schierensee Manor
Caspar von Saldern, Imperial Russian Minister of State and Privy Councillor, owned the estate since 1752 and laid the foundation for the extensive art collection. The manor house was built between 1776 and 1782 with baroque and classical style elements and provided with a very progressively designed landscape garden.
A large part of the interior and cultural treasures of the estate are original from the 18th century and are, like the building itself and the surrounding park, under monument protection. The landscape garden is currently being restored. The cultural assets collected in the manor house are continuously supplemented.
The manor house was renovated from 1969 to 1971 by the Hamburg publisher Axel Springer. Today, the estate belongs to the Günther Fielmann Foundation Schierensee and is used for agricultural purposes.
