Schweikvitz Manor

The manor house stands in Schweikvitz, a hamlet near Pansevitz in the municipality of Kluis, Amt West-Rügen, Vorpommern-Rügen district, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Kluis lies in the Muttland, the central part of the island of Rügen, about twelve kilometres north-west of Bergen.
Until 1326 the area belonged to the Principality of Rügen and thereafter to the Duchy of Pomerania. With the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, Rügen became part of Swedish Pomerania, and in 1815 it passed to the Prussian Province of Pomerania.
For a time Schweikvitz was an independent estate. In the early 19th century it belonged for one generation to the von Lindequist family, originally from Sweden, specifically to the farmer Olof Heinrich Friedrich von Lindequist (1793–1848). The manor house was built during this period and later altered. His descendants later acquired Grabow Castle in the Altmark.
Today the manor house is privately owned and inhabited. It can only be viewed from outside. Nearby are the Pansevitz landscape park with its castle ruin and the Silenz manor house.
