Sehestedt Manor
In the municipality of Sehestedt in Schleswig-Holstein, Gutshaus Sehestedt, a manor and estate house, is located. It represents an example of the rural aristocratic culture of the region.
History+
The origins of the Sehestedt estate are among the oldest knightly estates in the former Duchy of Schleswig. The current manor house was constructed in 1728, replacing an older castle complex. The moat, which once surrounded the original fortification, was filled in 1865. Many of the buildings belonging to the estate are now listed as historical monuments, and the property continues to be used for agriculture. The noble family Sehested, which owes its name to the estate, is still represented in several lines in Denmark today.
