In the 16th century, the estate was founded as the main state stud farm of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin by the Dukes of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Later, ownership changed to the Rehm family and in 1939 to Carl Gustav Oertel. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed by the communists.
