Sperenberg Manor

To be privately owned

Gutshaus Sperenberg, a listed manor house, is located in the Sperenberg district of the municipality of Am Mellensee in the Teltow-Fläming district.

History+

Unlike many other places, Sperenberg never had a knight's estate in the Middle Ages. It was not until 1907 that Carl Richter, a royal commissioner, moved to Sperenberg. He was commissioned to acquire land for a planned military training area in Wünsdorf. After selling numerous plots to the Imperial Military Treasury in 1910, he used the proceeds to build a manor house, an inspector's house, farm buildings, and stables on an 89-hectare estate in 1914. In 1927, the property was sold to the Konsumgenossenschaft Berlin und Umgebung, which used it as a children's recreation home and cultivated the land. From 1935, the cooperative estate was under the control of the treasury and from 1938 to 1952, it was owned by Siegfried Glimm.
