Stötteritz Manor

A moated castle with ramparts and a manor house was first mentioned in 1136 as being in the possession of Margrave Konrad von Wettin. Part of the former moat has been preserved. In the 16th century there were two knightly estates - the Lower and the Upper. In 1629, the Stötteritz outpost was mentioned for the first time. In 1714, the upper estate burned down. The manor house of the lower estate was built between 1780 and 1790. After completion, ownership passed to Christian Felix Weiße. He had the house rebuilt and laid out the park. The upper estate changed hands several times between 1817 and 1823. The lower estate passed to the Leipzig City Council in 1864, which leased it to the Mothes family from 1869 to 1888. Between 1875 and 1880, the manor house was extended. During this time, remnants of the old moated castle were found. In 1908, the upper knightly estate was demolished.

After the war, various industrial companies were located on the estate. In July 1991, the city leased the estate to the association for the reintegration of psychosocially impaired people (Verein zur Wiedereingliederung psychosozial geschädigter Menschen e. V.). After this, the manor house was renovated and now serves as a residential home for people with disabilities.
