The history of the Wehrland estate can be traced back to 1430, when the brothers Hans and Dietrich von Lepel are documented as the first known owners. The von Lepel family held the property until it was sold in 1823 to the merchant Moritz Voss. Voss, who had become wealthy in Mexico, had the current manor house built between 1837 and 1838, and also designed a park and a lime tree avenue. He was actively involved in promoting local agriculture and took on the patronage duties for the fieldstone church of St. Nikolai zu Bauer. In 1867, the estate changed hands and passed to August von Quistorp. The estate remained in the possession of the von Quistorp family until the end of World War II and the subsequent land reform of 1945/46. After their expropriation, the land was redistributed as part of the land reform, and the building was used for residential purposes. In the 21st century, it underwent extensive renovation and is now privately owned.
