Haus Anger in Ratingen is a historic manor and estate house whose origins date back to the early Middle Ages. The complex, distinguished by a striking main building, is situated in the Angertal valley.

History+

Haus Anger was first documented in 904 as "angeron curtis." In 1148, the property, then known as "curtim que dicitur Angera," came into the possession of the Imperial Abbey of Werden, which then granted it to its vassals. Following the Battle of Worringen in 1288, it remains unclear whether the estate was de-fortified, as the peace treaty between Adolf VIII of Berg and Archbishop Siegfried of Westerburg of Cologne prohibited the latter from constructing fortifications along the Anger river.
