History+

The first documented mention of Burgfey as a male fief dates to 1419. It is presumed that a fortified building already existed on this site in the 13th century, supported by silver coins found from that period. The first known feudal lord was Arnold von Lutrait, also known as Nechtersheim, a knight. In 1481, the property passed to Johann von Büdesheim through inheritance. In the early 16th century, specifically 1506, Eberhard von Büdesheim and his wife Anna Gürtzgen von Schwerfen were the owners. In 1574, the Count of Blankenheim confiscated the fief.
