Busch Manor

The origins of Haus Busch date back to 1369, when the knight's estate came into the possession of the noble family von Syberg. The manor house visible today, with its vaulted cellar, was built around 1700. In the early 20th century, the city of Hagen acquired the property. Since 1974, Haus Busch has housed the German Institute for Journalistic Education, founded in Düsseldorf in 1960, which trains and educates journalists. Despite financial difficulties in 2005, triggered by reduced subsidies and the withdrawal of publishers' associations, the institute is now run by a non-profit organization and continues to be supported by the DJV.
