Busch Manor

The origins of Haus Busch date back a long time, likely serving as a fiefdom of Prüm Abbey. In the 15th century, the property passed from the Beissel von Gymnich family to Michael von Bongart. His sister Katharina inherited it in 1545 and named the estate “Hall zum Busch,” from which the current name originated. In 1692, Maria von Groote acquired the electoral Cologne knight's seat. Her son Ferdinand began a transformation of the medieval castle into a Baroque country palace around 1700, but this project remained unfinished upon his death in 1742. The incomplete building passed to his niece Maria Jakobe and later, in 1778, to the von Geyr zu Müddersheim family. In 1815, the Barons von Mylius and von Pranghe were joint owners, before von Mylius sold the property in the mid-20th century to the Radermacher family. Today, it is owned by the Cologne art auctioneer Professor Hendrik Hanstein.
