Dorbröking Castle

Haus Dorbröking (Dorbröcking, Dorbrockering, Dorbrügging) originally belonged to the estate of Haus Rhede. Sophia von Rhede brought the house into her marriage with Engelbert von Gemen, whose daughter Fye, with the consent of her brother, issued a letter of freedom to her serf Hermann Doerbrüderynch in 1377 and 1388. Towards the middle of the 15th century, the house was a fief of St. Mauritz Abbey in Münster. The feoffee Johann Hotync ceded the property to Ulert von Rhemen in 1455. Agatha von Rhemen brought the house through marriage to Johann Dietrich von Merfeld. After his death, the heirs sold Haus Dorbröking to Johann von Rhemen in 1668. Haus Rhede and Haus Dorbröking were united. Today, Dorbröking is leased as a princely Anholt farmstead of the Salm-Salm family.

The manor house preserved today was built in the 19th century. In the 80s of the last century, the house was extensively renovated.
