Drostenhof Manor
The Drostenhof is a listed building in Wolbeck, a district of Münster.
The oldest part of the building, dating from 1545, is the gatehouse adorned with bay windows. Behind it is the manor house, built in 1557, a brick building in the style of the Early Renaissance. It is equipped with two stepped gables, which are divided vertically by pilasters. The brick walls are decorated with diamond-shaped patterns made of different colored bricks. A slender stair tower is set in front of the facade.
The Drostenhof is owned by the Count von Merveldt family (noble family), who held the office of Droste zu Wolbeck for generations and had a very close connection with Wolbeck since 1389. The Drostenhof still shapes the townscape today.
Part of the Drostenhof housed the West Prussian State Museum until the end of August 2012.
