Echthausen Castle

The first documented mention of Haus Echthausen dates back to a legal dispute between Emperor Conrad II and Werden Abbey. Originally owned by the Counts of Arnsberg, the castle later passed into the possession of the von Böckenförde gen. Schüngel family, who held it until 1835. Subsequently, it belonged to the Erbsälzer family von Lilien until 1909, who sold it to Baron von Boeselager in 1924. In 1991, the Bente entrepreneurial family acquired the dilapidated property from the descendants of Baron von Boeselager. They carried out a renovation of all buildings and the park, and have since used it as their residence.
