In the Marbeck district of Borken, North Rhine-Westphalia, lies Haus Engelrading, a historic manor and estate house. Originally a castle complex, it is today a private estate.

History+

The first documented mention of the Engelrading estate dates back to 1316, when it was recorded as the castle of Knight Goswin von Gemen. During the 14th century, the complex was destroyed following a siege by Bishop Heidenreich of Münster. In 1638, the estate changed hands when Arnold von Heiden sold it to Alexander von Velen zu Raesfeld and his cousin, a baron. Another transaction occurred in 1698, with the property being sold for 24,000 Reichstaler.
