Grael Castle

Haus Grael was the ancestral seat of the old Münster patrician family Grael zum Grael in the Middle Ages. In place of an old moated farm, a representative villa with an extensive landscape park was built at the end of the 19th century. The charming ensemble is located in the immediate vicinity of the procession route from Münster to Telgte.

Two-story Gründerzeit villa with a high mansard roof and a loggia on the garden side. To the west of the villa, on the former moat, stands a now rare garden pavilion from the late 19th or early 20th century. The buildings have been extensively renovated in recent years. At the entrance to the villa on Maikottenweg stands the baroque statue of St. John of Nepomuk. Originally, the figure stood at a stream crossing on the nearby procession route. The statue is considered the oldest Nepomuk monument in the city of Münster.
