In Solingen-Gräfrath is Haus Grünewald, often referred to as Schloss Grünewald. The villa is surrounded by an English landscape garden and is now a protected architectural monument.

History+

The origins of Haus Grünewald lie in a medieval farmstead. The building visible today was constructed between 1817 and 1824, with the slate cladding of the facade added in the second half of the 19th century. From 1843 to 1861, the ophthalmologist Friedrich Hermann de Leuw resided on the estate.
