Hall Manor

Haus Hall is a former manor house in Gescher.

From the foundation of the institution in 1855 until approximately 1930, neglected boys were offered care, housing, and work, primarily in agriculture. Since approximately 1930, the Haus Hall Foundation has been an institution for people with disabilities and for seniors. It is affiliated with the Caritasverband Münster as a leading association of independent welfare organizations. The company name is: Bischöfliche Stiftung Haus Hall - Einrichtungen für Menschen mit Behinderung (Episcopal Foundation Haus Hall - Facilities for People with Disabilities).

The Haus Hall Foundation offers 2,000 outpatient and inpatient places for people with disabilities at various locations in western Münsterland, in residential areas and workshops, in early intervention and counseling centers, in an inclusive daycare facility, a special school for intellectual development, and family support services. In addition, the foundation is affiliated with inpatient elderly care services. At the main location in Gescher, there are leisure and meeting opportunities for people with and without disabilities, a swimming pool, a riding hall, a church, and a cemetery. On the private foundation grounds of the former institution, approximately 500 disabled people lived until the 1980s. In 2013, approximately 640 people with intellectual disabilities live in decentralized inpatient residential areas. Since the 1970s, external residential groups in family-like structures have been established to enable people with disabilities to live as normal and community-integrated a life as possible. In the spirit of outpatient care and decentralization, further decentralized external residential groups and residences have been established in western Münsterland. Approximately 160 people with intellectual or psychological disabilities are supported in outpatient assisted living arrangements. The workshops for people with disabilities at five locations were spun off into a non-profit subsidiary in 2005 and operated as a GmbH. Approximately 1050 people with intellectual disabilities work there.

The Haus Hall Foundation operates a nursing home for the elderly in Bocholt with 120 places, as well as short-term care places and hospice places in the Guter Hirte Bocholt gGmbH.
