Heisingen Manor

The origins of Haus Heisingen trace back to the 9th century, when the Kofeld estate was established here, securing Frankish territorial claims. In the 11th and 12th centuries, it developed into a fortified complex, serving as a male fief of Werden Monastery from the 13th century onwards. In 1370, it was mentioned as the seat of the Werden bailiff. From 1458, the property was owned by the Barons Staël von Holstein for over two centuries. After this line died out in 1696, Abbot Coelestin von Geismar acquired the complex in 1709 and had it converted into a summer residence. His successor, Benedikt von Geismar, later added a Baroque portal.
