The Manor House of the von und zu Guttenberg Family+
The manor house of the von und zu Guttenberg family is located in the district of Kulmbach, Bavaria. The first documentary mention of the Guttenberg family dates back to 1149. The manor house itself was first mentioned in 1315.
Architectural History+
The manor house has undergone numerous changes over the centuries. The oldest parts of the building date back to the 14th century. In the 16th century, the manor house was expanded and converted into a Renaissance castle. Further modifications took place in the 18th and 19th centuries, giving the manor house its present appearance.
The Chapel
A special feature of the manor house is the chapel, which was built in the 17th century. It houses valuable frescoes and an altar from the Renaissance period.
Current Use+
The manor house is still inhabited by the von und zu Guttenberg family today. Parts of the manor house are also used for cultural events and conferences.
The manor house is privately owned and can only be visited by prior arrangement.
