Hove Manor
In Bottrop is Haus Hove, a historic manor and estate house, an example of a former knight's estate in North Rhine-Westphalia.
History+
The origins of Haus Hove date back to the 13th century. Originally, the estate was surrounded by a double moat, fed by the Kornbecke stream. The noble family that inhabited Haus Hove died out in 1737 with the death of Otto von der Hove. Since 1874, the estate has been owned by the Steinhaus family. Before an extensive reconstruction in 2004, the 15th-century gatehouse was considered the oldest stone building in old Bottrop. Today, some loopholes from the former defensive function of the complex are still visible.
