Hove Manor

The origins of Haus Hove are presumed to be in the 14th century, when the estate was granted to the Lords of Altena and Velmede. An initial documented mention around 1342 designates Hove as a dower for the widow of Dietrich von Altena. In 1399, the feudal charter for Dietrich von Velmede was issued by the Archbishop of Cologne at Arnsberg Castle. Later, starting in 1820, the house was a repeated residence for the poet Hoffmann von Fallersleben, who visited the family of his friend Henriette von Schwachenberg here. After a fire around 1871 or 1872, the main residential building was rebuilt between 1920 and 1922.
