Ittlingen Castle
Haus Itlingen, a moated castle in Münsterland, is located in the Herbern district of Ascheberg.
History+
The first documented mention of the estate dates back to the 14th century, when it was owned by the Lords of Itlingen. In 1540, ownership passed through marriage to the noble family von Nagel, who remain the owners to this day. Around 1680, the current castle was built under Ferdinand von Nagel. In the 18th century, it underwent a Renaissance-style renovation under the direction of architect Johann Conrad Schlaun, acquiring its horseshoe shape with flanking round towers.
