Krietenstein Castle

The origins of Haus Krietenstein date back to 1543, with the right part of the building said to contain remnants from that period. The estate largely took on its current form around 1760, when Friedrich Ernst Philipp von Grothaus, who lived from 1734 to 1772, commissioned the construction of a two-story manor house above a high basement. With him, the male line of the von Grothaus family of Krietenstein ended. A half-timbered gatehouse from the 18th century adorns the grounds and bears the coat of arms of Claus Grothaus and Engel Cath. Pladiese.

Haus Krietenstein is currently privately owned and used as such. Visitors can see the exterior of the manor house and the gatehouse.
