Langendonk Castle
In Geldern are found today the remains of Haus Langendonk, a former moated castle. Originally situated directly on the Fleuth river, only a tower stump of the complex has survived.
History+
Haus Langendonk was first documented in 1391. At that time, the castle was assigned to the electoral Cologne office and court of Rheinberg and was a fief of Cologne. Haus Langendonk came into the possession of the von Wyenhorst family. This family later attained important positions in the administration of the Duchy of Geldern, causing the castle to lose its original function as a border fortification against Geldern.

Today, only a three-story tower stump of the former moated castle remains. This open stump features narrow window openings and a high-set entrance. Haus Langendonk is privately owned.
