In Coesfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, stands Haus Loburg, a noble residence in a moated complex. Its history reportedly dates back to the time of Charlemagne.

The origins of Haus Loburg are said to reach back to the Carolingian era. Between 1550 and 1560, the Westphalian noble family von Graes constructed the current complex, which remained in their possession for over 300 years. In 1912, Prince Alfred zu Salm-Salm from Anholt Castle acquired the property for his son Franz Prince zu Salm-Salm. A bombing raid on March 10, 1945, largely destroyed the manor house, with only the cellar of the west wing surviving. Between 1946 and 1949, the gate wing was rebuilt in the Renaissance style as a two-story brick building with ashlar detailing and a stepped gable.
