Mozenborn Castle

The origins of Haus Mozenborn lie in a moated castle, built in the 15th or 16th century. Of this original complex, only silted-up moats and the stump of a round tower remain today. The current manor house, a two-story, transversely rectangular brick building with a mansard roof, was constructed in 1789. It was extended by two axes in the 20th century. A predecessor building was first documented in the 14th century as property of the Schinmann von Mozenborn family. In 1525, the estate passed to Franz Spies von Büllesheim through marriage and inheritance. Ownership changed hands several times, including the von Friemersdorf, von Eltz, and von Hochsteden families. In 1901, Karl Jacobi acquired the estate, and his descendants, the Ley family, remain the owners to this day.
