Nierenhof Manor

The Nierenhof estate, formerly known as “Rittergut Nederhofe,” was situated on a prehistoric trade route, the Hilinciweg, first documented in 875. The Deilbach, where the estate is located, historically formed the border between Franks and Saxons, later between the Lordship of Hardenberg and the County of Mark, as well as the Duchy of Berg and Prussia. It is presumed that the Deilbach crossing was controlled by a knight's seat, favored by the confluence of the Deilbach, Heiersberger Bach, and Felderbach. The von Nederhove family, Isenberg-Limburg ministeriales, owned the noble residence until their extinction in the 15th century. In 1757, the merchant Johann Peter Bachmann from Langenberg acquired the land belonging to the estate and erected extensive residential and commercial buildings.
