Opherdicke Castle

The first documented mention of Haus Opherdicke dates back to 1176, when Heinrich von Herreke transferred his property as a fief to the Archbishop of Cologne. After Heinrich's death, the fief passed to the noble lords of Grafschaft, who held it until 1573 and enfeoffed a ministerial family named Herreke with it. In the 15th century, ownership changed hands through marriage to the Gruwel and Lappe families, before passing around 1500 to the von Fresendorf family, burgraves of Kamen. In 1719, the von Hane zu Werve acquired the estate. Through inheritance, it passed to Franz Caspar von Lilien in 1792 and later to his grandson. In 1906, the latter bequeathed the property to his niece Eugenie Countess Berghe von Trips. After partial sales in 1912, the remaining estate was sold to Theodor Regenbogen in 1918.
