Pröbsting Castle
Haus Pröbsting is a listed building in Hoxfeld, a district of Borken in the Borken district of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The house was first mentioned in a document in 1221 as a manor. In 1345, Goswin von Gemen received episcopal permission to erect a stone structure. A small moated castle with ramparts was built. The medieval core building of the manor house is a two-room house with a basement. It was built of brick and has corner quoins of ashlar. In the 19th century, the building was extended and rebuilt. In recent times, the building was left to decay for decades; in 1988, it was restored to its original condition and extensively renovated.
The outer bailey with gatehouse and a corner pavilion dates from the 18th century.
