Pustekrey Castle
In Ahlen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Haus Pustekrey is a historic castle with half-timbered construction on a moated island. It is one of the rare preserved noble residences of its kind in Münsterland.
History+
The manor house was constructed between 1614 and 1616. It was originally planned as part of a larger complex. However, the builder, Eberhard von Bischoping, encountered financial difficulties in 1624 and went bankrupt. The building underwent its first major modernization in 1732. Further renovation and plastering occurred in 1830, after the property transitioned into agricultural ownership. On the exterior, fragments of an ornate fireplace with the alliance coat of arms of the von Bischoping and Kerkerinck families can be found.
