Ruhr Castle
Haus Ruhr, a castle ensemble and former moated castle, is located in Schwerte-Wandhofen. Its history dates back to the 15th century.
The origins of Haus Ruhr date back to 1455, when Jan von Boyle von Wetter, a hereditary castellan from Wetter, had the complex built for his son-in-law from the von Neheim family. The design of the complex was geared towards defensive purposes. However, the buildings visible today largely date from the 17th and 19th centuries.
Haus Ruhr is located in Schwerte, in the Unna district, in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 110 m above sea level.
