Tencking Castle

Haus Tencking was originally a fief of the Bishop of Münster, but in the 15th century, it passed into the possession of the Lords of Anholt. After frequent changes of ownership, it remained in Diepenbrock possession for over a century and a half. In 1705, Ernst von Cochenheim took over the indebted house. After its demolition, he rebuilt Haus Tencking in its current form in 1710.

In 1841, it passed through forced sale to Baron van Hövell of Haus Gnadenthal near Kleve, who united it with Haus Kretier. It has remained in the family's possession to this day. In recent years, the complex has been converted into a social care and therapeutic facility.
