Weyern Manor

The first documented mention of Haus Weyern, then known as Grevenweyern, occurred on November 28, 1398. For a long period, the property was owned by the Dukes of Jülich until it was confiscated by the French. In 1804, Ferdinand Josef Effertz from Aachen acquired the estate as a national domain. Later, it passed to the Düren businessman Johann Paul Schenkel. Through inheritance and marriage, ownership transferred to the Schoeller family and subsequently the Prym family, before the city of Düren purchased the estate from the Prym heirs on June 28, 1940. The current two-story manor house with a gabled roof and five bays was built at the beginning of the 18th century as a brick structure with ashlar surrounds. The two distinctive, outward-sloping brick pillars at the courtyard entrance also date from the same period.
