Havixhorst (Manor)

Havixhorst Manor is a historic estate in the Dutch province of Drenthe, near the municipality of Meppel. It is distinguished by its long history and the preservation of its character as a private country house.
History+
The first documented mention of Havixhorst dates back to 1371. For several centuries, until the 17th century, the estate was owned by the Van den Clooster family. Subsequently, it passed to the Van Munster family. In 1658, Johan de Vos van Steenwijk acquired the manor, and his descendants resided there until 1956. Afterwards, ownership fell to two nieces from the Van Mourik family, who sold Havixhorst in 1963.
