Heddersdorf Manor

Originally, in the 13th century, the Heddersdorf’sche Adelshof was the first castle seat of the Wambolt von Umstadt family and was known as the “Old Wambolt's Court.” After the death of the last male descendant of the Umstadt line in 1558, the property passed to Regina Wambolt von Umstadt through inheritance and settlement. She bequeathed it to her sister Anna, who was married to Ulrich von Hedersdorf. From 1570, the manor became the ancestral property of the Hedersdorf family's Umstadt line. After this line died out in 1658 and due to indebtedness, the estate passed into various private hands. In 1742, the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt acquired the property and used it as a Lutheran parsonage. In 1849, it was privatized by the Grand Duchy of Hesse and came into bourgeois hands, where it has remained to this day.
