Helmstätter Manor

The origins of the property date back to before 1600, when an estate farm of the Lords of Handschuhsheim, who also owned the Tiefburg, existed on this site. After the extinction of this family in 1624, both the castle and the estate farm passed into the possession of the Lords of Helmstatt. In the wars of the 17th century, the castle, the estate farm, and the village were severely devastated. Around 1700, the Lords of Helmstatt decided to abandon the destroyed castle as a residence and instead erected the current manor house on the site of the former estate farm.
