Herod's Gate, also known as the Flower Gate, is located at the northeastern corner of the Old City of Jerusalem. It connects the Muslim Quarter with the adjacent Arab residential areas.
History+
The name "Herod's Gate" was coined by medieval pilgrims who believed that the house of Herod Antipas, where Jesus was reportedly interrogated according to biblical tradition, was located nearby. The gate played a role in 1099 when Crusaders achieved a breakthrough in the city wall at this spot, leading to the fall of Jerusalem.
