History+

The first documented mention of Aderstedt occurred in 1004, when King Henry II gifted the location to Drübeck Abbey. Originally, the Counts of Regenstein held fiefs here from the Bishopric of Halberstadt, which they in turn granted to ministerials who named themselves after the place, first documented in 1212 with Giselbertus de Aderstide. In 1343, the fief passed to the Counts of Wernigerode. The Aderstedt family also acquired their own landholdings. Through the marriage of Margarete von Aderstedt, the property came into the possession of the Lords of Spiegel in the early 15th century, followed by the Lords of Veltheim from 1544. The Aderstedt line of the Veltheims died out in 1726, but another line continued until 1854.
