Alach Manor

The estate, originally a monastery property, was first documented in 1104 and belonged to the Peterskloster Erfurt. In the late 14th century, the monastery mortgaged parts of its lands in Alach to the city of Erfurt and to the patrician family von der Sachsen. The latter later sold their share to the city as well. The preserved manor house, a two-story rubble stone building with a hip roof, replaced an older structure from 1482. It houses a chapel with Gothic tracery windows. After damage from a siege in 1664, the buildings were repaired and expanded with a granary and another estate building. In 1713, the manor house was converted into a residence for monks, and in 1715, the chapel received an organ.
