Andlauerhof Manor

The origins of the Andlauerhof date back to the 13th century, when a 'Dinghof' of the Reich von Reichenstein is believed to have stood on this site. Around 1616, the noble residence was rebuilt by Johann Wilhelm Reutner von Weyl after he acquired it in the late 16th century. A depiction from 1665 shows a rectangular building with a gabled roof and a round tower. In the mid-17th century, the estate passed to the von Roggenbach family and was acquired and transformed into a Baroque palace by Dean Beat Anton Münch von Münchenstein in 1743. After his death in 1759, the property changed hands several times until it was sold to Landvogt Franz Carl von Andlau in 1762/63, who moved the bailiff's seat here and gave the estate its current name. His wife, Balbina von Staal, together with Heinrich von Ligertz, created the extensive garden complex now known as the Ermitage. Under Conrad von Andlau, the Landvogt's son, the estate underwent further renovations in the Empire style in the early 19th century. In 1844, the property was sold to Basel speculators and subsequently changed owners multiple times, with further alterations to the building and garden, including in the Neo-Baroque style by Achilles Alioth-Franck.

The Andlauerhof manor house is located on the eastern edge of Arlesheim in the Arlesheim district, Canton Basel-Landschaft, Switzerland, at an elevation of approximately 337 m above sea level.

The Andlauerhof is privately owned and is in excellent condition. It houses valuable artworks and rich interior furnishings, including stucco work, wall paintings, and historic stoves, which highlight its cultural significance.
