Bienebek Manor

The ensemble of the manor house and its associated farm buildings, located on the Schlei, is a protected monument. The manor house was built in 1840-41 and is today the seat of the Duchess of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Previous owners included the Lords of Wisch, von Thienen, and von Qualen.

The manor house is a two-story plastered building with a hipped roof. The facade is characterized by a central risalit with a triangular gable. The windows are rectangular and have simple frames. The interior of the manor house has largely been preserved in its original state and contains valuable stucco work and wall paintings.

The manor house is surrounded by a spacious park, which was laid out in the 19th century. The park contains a variety of old trees, rhododendrons, and azaleas. A small lake and several bridges complete the picturesque ensemble. The park is open to the public and invites visitors to take a stroll.

Today, the manor house is privately inhabited by the ducal family. Parts of the manor house and the park are regularly used for cultural events such as concerts, exhibitions, and readings. The historic ambience provides a unique setting for these events.
