Blumenthal Manor (Brachelen)

The first documented mention of Haus Blumenthal occurred in 1452, when it was owned by Karl von Honseler. In 1484, Reiner von Honseler was named as the owner. In 1542, Johann von Blumenthal acquired the estate, which would later bear his name. Johann von Blumenthal, who was elevated to the nobility by Emperor Charles V in 1546, was married to Elisabeth von Gruithausen. Around 1600, ownership passed to the von Gruithausen family, an old noble lineage from the Netherlands first mentioned around 1300. This transition occurred through the marriage of Arnold von Gruithausen to Elisabeth von Blumenthal.
